Not sure if anyone pays attention to the tiers here, but they just came out with a new one on the 5th.

Hoi Pony! Pyrex here.

Yeah, not only do I not look at tier lists, but I think they are very misleading. Afterall, I could really kickass with Zelda, but this tier list gives her a D. When I was still practicing brawl, constantly, I could pull my own with Zelda. This list is just a popularity list, not a strength/weakness list.

Actually, it measures the potential of each character

So if you are pro with Zelda, and you face someone who is as good as you, but plays as MK or Snake, they'll most likely win.
It also considers matchups, meaning that characters like DK and Fox are low tier, because characters like D3 and Sheik have infinites on them.

Tiers aren't everything, but they give you an idea of which character will carry you to the top.

But, I could beat some very good people. Banryx/Ceyrox played as Olimar and someone else. On Bridge of Eldin I beat them silly. Now, on Big Blue, I just lost, no questions asked.

But I've never heard of them, and those aren't tournament legal stages.
The tier list mostly measures competitive play, and you guys are just doing friendlies between, well, friends.

We aren't very friendly. But seriously, there are flaws in it. Each one has a rather unique way to play so oyu can not judge.

I don't get it. Ness and Ike are great characters, if I tried playing the game again and got back into my groove I could easily pwn Marth. The characters in the A tier are just uncomfortable for me to play as, maybe if I really did dedicate myself to training as them I'd earn the rank of pussywillow. Meh, certain people are good with certain things.

No, I used Nayru's love for defence. And Farore's Wind as my returning move. Then I would KO them with a smash attack.

I think the list is innacurate. I like Link and Samus, and they are rated unfairly. I mean, these are just lists of who is doing better, it doesn't really have to do with the character, it just so happens that all the best SSB players choose the "better" character, henceforth making them better.

Bleh.
Each character has their own thread on AiB and SWFs, with plenty of active people.
Each character's meta-game improves over time because of these people, which is why the tier list changes over time.

Also, the tier list isn't a bible, the Smash Back Room even tells everyone not to take it seriously.
