I saw my first midnight screening of a movie today (12:01)... District 9 was by far the best movie of the summer, best movie of the year, and easily fits into my top five movies! Blomkamp managed to combine a brilliant story with exciting action scenes and believable characters. Furthermore the movie had great gory violence and the CGI was the best I've ever seen. What's really amazing is that this was director Neill Blomkamp's first film, the budget was only thirty million dollars, and this was Sharlto Copley's first movie. Not to mention that Copley had to speak to air half of the time because the prawns were completely CGI.

Yeah it was a great experience. I wasn't tired at all, though I got a little bored ten minutes before the previews. District 9 will likely be revered as one of the best sci-fi movies. Yes I know, there's no way I could've concealed my excitement about the movie from a Phsycic* like you.

*Phsycic is an anagram for psychic...

I dunno, critics seem a lot of the time to give good movies bad reviews.

It's a Science Fiction series, the movie brought together 30 years, and 26 seasons of it

and you may find that 'weird', but a lot of american stuff Japan finds 'weird'

Know, Ceyros is right, that's just weird.

30 years? Musta been a high budget for what looks so... crappy, for lack of a better word. Maybe the effects are 30 years old too...

And how come they can't use animation for the badguys costumes, it looks so weird...

It didn't take 30 years for the movie. It reunites 30 years of the series. The movie took Six months.

I'm not sure how long it took. They had to keep in a lot of Old gen effects though, since half of the teamup is riders from the 70/80's

This is why I didn't want to put it up.

What was the budget for that movie? District 9 had a thirty million dollars budget, which, though still pretty expensive, isn't as much as other big blockbuster movies and yet it still had the best FX I've seen.

I'm actually moreso after seeing it. I was pretty excited about the movie to begin with and the movie turned out to be two-times better, the buzz is wearing off though I do want to see it again.

Also I decided I'd advertise the movie with my posts in the Movie Thread until someone actually decides to go see it. Who here's squeamish?
