What a suckup... well, if you're not interested in the characters and what not, why would you read it? You have shown in the past that you aren't open to new books, if you haven't previously been immersed in the storyline. But I still tend to doubt that you would still read it if you weren't interested in it.

I never said I would read BIONICLE if I didn't like it, I said that if Greg published a non-BIONICLE book I'd probably read it. _________________

| Uh, let's see, we were on the topic of his Bionicle books, so, why would I need to say so. Maybe you just shouldn't assume so much. |

Here's a quote from Shadows in the Sky:
| Quote: | | Not so very long ago, this place would have been thought beautiful by matoran standards of beauty. But today it was a place of chaos and fear, betrayal and grief- and Antroz looked upon this, and saw that it was good. |
Enough said. _________________

| "Good" is a terrible adjective. You have to at least admit that. They don't even let us use it in Language Arts anymore. With all that leading up to one word, it was very disappointing. |

How bad an adjective is depends on how it is used. In this case, I don't see what other adjective could be used, and the way that is written gives you an idea of Antroz's personality. _________________

Hm, let's think, "excellent", "outstanding", "exhilirating", "breath-taking", "inspiring", "ecstatic", and "wonderful".
What do you mean there's no substitute? And to be fair, replacing the word "good" isn't going to change the sentences very much, after all, it's not a very descriptive word. |

But it's the simplicity of the statement that gives you an idea of the character- it's not that the scenario is particularly exhilirating, or that it's the greatest one ever- it's simply "good," as if that's just the way it should be. _________________

No, that's just Greg not being able to say anything more descriptive than "good." _________________

| Antroz doesn't seem like a simple person, anyways. And yes, Ceyrox is right, Greg could have used many more descriptive words. In literature, besides poetry, more descriptive means better quality. That's always true. And not many eight year olds are going to understand the simplicity of a character from a simple thought. No, you're just interpreting it in your own little weird way. |

Antroz seems to be fairly simplistic for a Makuta.
You're just interperting what writing should be in your own weird way.
And there is always a time for "overused" words, it's all circumstancial. Remember, "eloquent" and "good speaker" are not synonyms, as the former implies a greater elegance than the latter. _________________

And Greg should have used a better word, it wouldn't have the exact same meaning, but it wouldn't drastically change the story, yet it would make it considerabely better. _________________

What do you mean? He's not a cliche Makuta at all. He values honor, among other things. He's not simplistic at all. He's the Makuta they go into the most detail with. And he's the leader. A leader can't afford to be simplistic.
Oh, really. You didn't even understand what I said. I'm not interpreting it in any way, I'm just talking about synonyms. You're talking about how simplistic thoughts are read to add to the characters character and reflect upon their actions. I've never, ever heard of anything like that. And that's too complicated for Greg to put into his writing. And the other way would benefit the literature much more than whatever it is you're implying.
Alright, but "good" is so undescriptive, a slightly more specific word would help the reader picture the scene. |

Antroz isn't like Pridak or Teridax; he isn't a complex thinker.
By the way, the line "And He saw it was good" appears in the Bible, when God looks upon the world. What the point of the line really is is a reference to that line- Antroz is examining his handiwork.
And I've studied writing techniques for some time. I've seen that repeatedly. _________________

| Storms, you're complicating things much more than necessary. No literary rules, not literary devices, just black and white; it was a bad choice of words. Or is it impossible that, in all twenty something of Greg's books, that he ever got one little word wrong? Is that it, Storms? |

And I'm not claiming the bible is bad, and for the record, I'm going to have to call you on that one Storms. Plus therefore, Greg just ripped the line off from somewhere else. _________________

You mean never? Everyone makes mistakes. I was rather disapointed in Dark Destiny, actually.
Nothing (aside from a handful of moral issues) are black and white. There's always grey.
That line is in Genesis, and is heard enough by many readers that it conveys the idea well. _________________

| Uh, I don't want to start an argument, but, really?! I though that Legends 1-5 and Adventures 10 were the only books worth reading. You can't beat the Piraka's humor! |

Ceyrox: Go find a Bible.
Banryx: Same, but Dark Destiny set things up for a darker story that never came... I guess it was Power Play that was disapointing, and DD that just caused the dispointment.
