Very Important. This information is regarding the next Zelda game.

Shigera Miyamoto (I probably spelled his first name wrong) has filed a patent on what looks like the next Zelda game. In the patent there were picture examples including a sketch of a swordsman walking through a field. When Miyamoto was interview he called the game "Legend of OO."

It looks like the next Zelda games is coming up just aorund the bend.

But...... There is a catch (22).The Patent was for some new "modes" that the game will feature. They are Game, Digest, and Scenes.

Game is going to be the normal everyday game. But get this, there is going to be a hint button on screen for newbie players.

Digest is where you watch the game play itself and you can jump in on the action at anytime with all the equipment and stuff. You can not save in this mode.

Finally Scene is where you start the game at any puzzle, dungeon, or cutscene. You can save in this mode.

I need your opinion on this matter. What do you think of this? What does it mean? Is Zelda taking a dive for the newbies or rising up for the good of all? Will sidequests dissapear? Will we get to replay boss fights? Can I just buy the game, skip to the end, and kill Ganondorf? Is the apocalypse coming?

For more information you can go to the article here.

I don't understand what you mean too well, but from the last few games, it seems like the game has been improving. Although let me get this straight, it's basically the normal LOZ game, right? Just with add-on features, these aren't going to change the new game much, are they? And also, has he announced what timeline it will probably be in?

No. These features just bug me. Especially Digest.

The poll is asking the question where do you think these changes will land Zelda. I htink that Sidequests could easily dissapear and that really scares me. Although I have a good scene sellect in mind.

After every dungeon you get a "Warp Sphere" which allows you to warp there (say, through the song of time) you can warp to any warp sphere and you get the equipment you had when you entered the warp sphere.

That is my idea.

It doesn't sound to me like that's going to happen, but here is my opinion on the matter. I hope that in Game you can turn off the hints, that makes it too easy. For Digest, I bet you have to beat the level first... then you can jump to it anytime. And scene, are you sure you can't just watch cutscenes, because I've seen games like that. Other than that, I definately would choose to keep sidequests over those new things, but we'll just have to wait and see. Well, we just hope that the story and gameplay is good...

They'll probably have sidequests and the new features. Why would get rid of sidequests?

With Scene Select they specifically said you could play the game in Scene Select mode. But thats the problem. With scene select you jump to a scene and get the bare essentials to have beaten the game so far. So any sidequest item would be lost. Plus you can save so you could permanantly trade items.

But the regular story would have sidequests... wouldn't it?

My definition of sidequest is anything you don't have to do. So if you needed say, a "Axe Ownage Saber" and you used scene select you wouldn't have it. Because they only give you the items that link would have collected up until the scene.

If you have a problem with that, then just don't do scene selection. Just play the game.

Most people think it will be to casual. But I had an idea. If they have a hint mode they can give really hard challenges without making newbies mad. Maybe there are some good things in this.

I hope it isn't a giant question mark that takes up 50% of the screen...

Nah. The diagram has it in a little corner.

Here is the offical Patent if anyone is interested.
http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/n...OS=AN/Nintendo&RS=AN/Nintendo

I read through some of the easier to understand sections and found a section alking about making you're own Digest Movie to share with others.

That looks fun to me.

The digest video is where the game plays itself and you can jump in on the action at anytime, but you can't save. According to the Patent you can make your own.
