Why Oceanic Empire, why?  :x
Lord Duality

C...S...S?

Command Suckish Saps?
Pony

Yeah, I love that game!

Counter Strike: Source.
Dread Abyss

... I'm still clueless.
Pony

You guys seriously don't know what Counter Strike: Source is?
Dread Abyss

Is it a first-person shooter? You know what, I bet it's something Nintendo related! It's either for a Nintendo platform or for the computer. Am I getting closer?
Lord Duality

Computer. Looks kinda dumb.
Dread Abyss

Well I'm getting closer. So it's a first-person shooter on the computer, are there monsters or soldiers like in Call of Duty?
Lord Duality

Um, it is an anti-terrorism game.
Pony

Dude, it's like the top rated FPS game, ever.

Next to Halo
Dread Abyss

Seriously? Did it have an innovative weapon system like Resistance, the inclusion of vehicles like Battlefield: Bad Company, a large array of weapons like Halo, and/or outstanding graphics like Killzone 2? Or was it efficient for its time?
Pony

It's endlessly customizable :3
You can create your own servers, maps, and skins, plus, you can change settings like the gravity level to make up your own mini-game servers.

AND, it's only $10-$20
Dread Abyss

That's pretty cool; when was it released?
Pony

2004 :3
You should get it, it's pretty cheap

Here's a more accurate description: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counter_strike_source
Lord Duality

Although I love modding, I suck at it. If that is the big thing it has to ffer then I won't get it.
Pony

I haven't modded ANYTHING, but it's my favorite FPS game :/
You can just play other peoples modded maps and mini-games, or play the neutral maps that the game starts out with, even without the modding, it's a great FPS!
General Ceyrox

No offense to anyone, but that game is terrible. It's certainly not endlessly customizable, it's got terrible graphics, and there's gameplay for five seconds, and then you start over. I exagerate, but matches end really quickly.
Heartless Banryx

Hm, a lot of my friends like FPS, but I honestly hate them.

But to answer your question, Pony, you can make one if you want. We have no real limits on game topics, but with the amazing amount of games they take up a lot of space, and are rare to think of individually.

You must be kidding.
How isn't it endlessly customizable?
There are auto respawn servers, if you want matches to be longer.
If you think the graphics are terrible, then you must be playing on a monitor from the 1970s.
Heartless Banryx

Alright, Pony just make one if you want. There's no need to debate this further.
General Ceyrox

Okay, it is pretty endlessly customizable. And I mispoke, the matches are long, but you die every 30 seconds. That's what's annoying. And the graphics certainly don't compare to any modern games.
Pony

I don't think there is any need to make a topic for a game that you all seem to think is terrible...
Lord Duality

You couldtalk to yourself? I'm sure you are very engaging in that respect....

But yeah, DELETE IT!
Pony

If you're dying every 30 seconds, that just means you have to get better...
For example, in games like Halo, I die every 30 seconds, because I have no skill at it.

And I agree with you on the graphics not comparing to any modern games, but graphics don't have anything to do with gameplay.
Lord Duality

Amen, Graphics mean Naught.
Heartless Banryx

I disagree. Graphics do have something to do with gameplay. Say, for example, it enriches the gameplay experience. Perhaps not as noticeable as gameplay, but someone looking at a newer game might say "Wow, those graphics are incredible,", and looking back, someone might say, "Wow, those graphics are horrid".

And even if its not gameplay, mentally the mind, and iris, likes things rich and beautiful, which is why someone may prefer something simple in a color scheme, or something complicated and unique. These preferences aside, most people, if not all people, prefer better graphics on their videogames.
Pony

-Sigh-

Watch this...

Lord Duality

That is not how I see things. Graphics are a HUGE selling point for most games. But to mean they don't mean a thing. Most people love them and die for them. But I never judge on graphics. To me, if you are looking for good graphics, you are looking for a more realistic look. But I have not seen a truly realistic look. So they are trying to do something they can not reach. Graphics can add to the game, but not that much.
Heartless Banryx

Well regardless of your thinkings, Pony, and the illogical stupidity of that video, ignorant as it may, graphics do play a huge part. Frankly, its a little sad that you think all peoples viewpoints can be summed up in one video. Perhaps I can explain.

The odds of a video matching each of your viewpoints are low, but are increased by several personality factors. People who tend to like one thing, are more drawn to that vantage point, or similar vantage points in different aspects. The similar vantage points make up your oppurtune, which match that of the video creators solely on the fact you have one aspect in common, that generally causes you to think in the same fashion, and from the same viewpoint. That said, I believe you may think that video may be correct, and that the creator thinks its correct, but that video surely can't be summed up by anything. Graphics are important to some people for many reasons.

If people like a customizable game for the reason, yes, you guessed it, to customize things, they may like to see their customized people, courses, or weapons in better graphics to have more of an impact on that customization, e.g., "I designed it, I made it, and it looks pretty badass".

Some people, mostly teenagers, like blood and gore, and violence, and have become desensitized to it, and older graphics appeal to them just like older movies have worse effects, contrary to newer movies with greater affects.

There are many others, I just don't want to list them all here. My closing statement it, yes, while the gameplay makes a game fun, and builds its main foundation, bad graphics may end up giving people headaches, and good graphics giving people some sort of satisfaction.
Dread Abyss

Graphics really help a game and can really hinder a game. The horrid graphics in The Force Unleashed really hindered the game. Killzone 2 had incredible graphics, but instead of making everything lifelike they gave the game a really great artistic feel that accentuated the dark environments and characters. Resistance 2 also had an artistic feel to it like the movie Beowulf

I didn't watch the video, but from what Banryx said it must've been about a squid growing fur while playing the cello... poorly.
General Ceyrox

It was pretty stupid. The main problem is he talked too fast.
Lord Duality

All though you have aproached this scientifically, everyone had their own opinion. Obviously some can stomach the graphics. They are not up to par with your standards, but they might be for others.
Heartless Banryx

Well, that is what I said in my post. Everyone is different and the far majority won't agree with that.
Dread Abyss

You were probably replying to Banryx, Freeze, so I'll continue to Ceyrox. So it was some guy quickly talking about the game? Not a squid playing the cello while growing fur. Darn.
Heartless Banryx

You should watch it...
General Ceyrox

And he had an fake accent, as if it wasn't hard enough to understand him.
Heartless Banryx

That's true.
Pony

It's a parody of a series of videos called "Zero Punctuation" where the person talking speaks as if it's all one sentence, and has an accent, sorry if that's too difficult to understand.

And I think it's sad that this generation of gamers can't play a game unless the graphics are good.
Lord Duality

Graphics are nessecary in games with high physics. But yeah, Halo did this generation in. It made them expect Halo from every FPS.
Dread Abyss

I think graphics can help balance a game, horrible graphics weigh it down while great graphics improve the game highly. I've never played Halo or seen anyone play it, I'm not sure what I expect from the FPS games I play. The FPS games I play are Resistance 2, Killzone 2, and Battlefield: Bad Company.
Lord Duality

Sadly, those are copies of Halo. Resistance storyline is acredited to Halo for pioneering FPS storlyines (Which I will admit is amazing). I didn't play Killzone with you. Bad Company has lots of vehicles and eplosives. It takes less from Halo and a bit more from Call of Duty because weapons and vehicles are probably the same. Both have amazing graphics and helped to solidify a love in FPS.
Heartless Banryx

Well, you can say they're copies, but almost all first-person shooters for the same systems have the same controls. That's why I hate FPSs. They have limited storylines and are highly repetitive, with almost no customization.
Dread Abyss

How are they copies of Halo? The stories are very different, the gameplay may be similar but FPS all have similar gameplay. Plus Resistance 2 has an added ability to each gun which sets it apart from most other FPS; I don't know if Halo has guns with added abilities. I don't think they took anything from Halo, instead they were unique First person shooters that had guns and, in Battlefield's case, vehicles. I actually have played Call of Duty and I can say it's very different from Battlefield.

First person shooters may have almost the same controls but you have access to several different types of weapons that you can master and use strategically to kill your enemies. I dislike the short storylines but the stories are pretty awesome and the Multiplayer draws you in for a long time. I have to utilize a strategy when I play a FPS otherwise I'll just be blown into little bloody bits. The customization you're referring to must mean in details because Killzone 2 allows you to choose classes with special abilities, weapons, as well as an additional array of abilities once you unlock them.
There's a first person shooter RPG coming out in October that doesn't have any of the problems you listed, Banryx, plus it has something Halo will never have, almost a million guns.:yay:
