Lord Duality

BooksJust a generic book thread. For any book that doesn't fall into a series of a classic.

The Source by James Michener is good, as are Timeline by Michael Crichton and Raptor Red by Robert T. Bakker.
Yup, those are the books I've been reading recently.

I've been reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, does that count as a classic book?
|
Heartless Banryx
|
Yeah, though I don't see how...
|
Lord Duality
|
Well, the author is dead and people still read it. So that makes it a bit of a classic...
Anyways, Read Feed by M.T. Anderson.

Artemis Fowl series, even though it already has it's own topic. I don't read alot of books...

Lord Duality

Eh, I don't know. The first thing I heard about it was that it sucked. But now lots of people say that it is good. Maybe I'll get one of them.

They're pretty good. But some times it can be hard to tell what's going on.

The first one's a terrible introduction to the series, mainly because its hard to imagine things when you're in one place the entire novel. But if you start reading from the second one, you'll learn to love it.

Okay, all I remember was my sister ranting about it and hating it. I might grab it. Maybe.
Heh, I had a similar problem with feed. They use slang words, that weren't even invented yet !
|
Heartless Banryx

That's... kinda stupid.

Not really, It added to the stories depth. But made it very hard to follow at first. Still don't know what Youch means.....

I've heard the word Youch used before.

I have to. But they've changed the meaning for this book. I mean, it is slang now.
LOL, only the old people use words like "Dude" and such.

That book sounds... special...
|
Lord Duality

It really is.
Anyone read The Giver? Well, never, EVER, read Gathering Blue. That was a waste of my life.

Has anyone read Good Omens? Very funny, almost Catch-22 style.

Anyone ever read Jesus Land, or The Glass Castle?
I haven't finished The Glass Castle, but so far it's pretty good

Jesus Land?
The Other Side of the Island in my opinion is a pretty good book, I recommend it to most of you. A post apocalyptic novel about love, loss, and the power of human choice. Honor and her parents have been reassigned to live on Island 365 in the Tranquil Sea. Life is peaceful there-the color of the sky is regulated by Earth Mother, a corporation that controls New Weather, and it almost never rains. Everyone fits into their rightful and predictable place... Except Honor. She doesn't fit in, but then she meets Helix, a boy with a big heart and a keen sense for the world around them. Slowly, Honor and Helix begin to uncover a terrible truth about life on the Island: Sooner or later, those who are unpredictable disappear... and they don't ever come back.

Has anyone heard of The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency books by Alexander McCall Smith?
|
Lord Duality

Nope.
Good Book is called the Book Theif. Very dark, yet very bright.

Dread Abyss
